Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God – this is your true and proper worship (Romans 12:1)
R
Relationships that are Loving and Genuine, because people matter
A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another (John 13:34-35)
I
Inspired by the Spirit, who brings life and power for change.
The Spirit brings life (John 6:63)

Our Team
Our Story
Cornerstone Church began in the 50’s with a handful of pioneers seeking to reach out for Christ to Busselton and the wider area. Tent missions saw many new converts and acted as a launch pad for the church. Meetings were held in local halls until land became available and a church building constructed, with the opening service in 1961. One of our current members was baptised at age 16 on that first weekend!
In 1963, floodwaters completely surrounded the church and resided just in time for one of our early weddings. Some of the ministers in the 60-70’s were: John Sutton, Maurie Hodgson, Jim Holliday, Jack Sewell and John Tocknell.
In the 1980’s, with Ross Burton as minister, the church planted into Dunsborough and Cowaramup and started Cornerstone Christian College on the church property with a class of 17 students. Graeme Ritchie commenced as minister in 1992, and as the college was growing rapidly in the 80-90’s, was relocated to the current facility in Grace Court.
John Hutchinson commenced as minister in 2000 and brought fresh vision to the church, with a relocation and a new facility constructed adjacent to the college. The church was renamed “Cornerstone Church” from Busselton Church of Christ.
Lee Sykes commenced as minister in 2008, and the church has continued to develop and grow in her original vision to be firmly based on Christ and reaching out to our region. A second college campus was commenced in Dunsborough in 2016, and the Vasse church joined with Cornerstone as a second location in 2019.
We give God the glory for His grace, and honour all the pioneering folks through our story. Christ our Cornerstone!
